The Angul United Central Cooperative Bank Ltd., Angul more popularly known as Angul Bank had its humble beginning over six decade ago on 08th October 1956, when a small group philanthropist got together to set up a Bank in the head quarter at Angul. Prior to this there were two Co-operative Banks namely Athmallik Co-op. Bank and Angul Co-op. Bank, functioning in undivided Dhenkanal District. As per the recommendation of All India Rural Credit Survey Committee report, the above group of philanthropist had decided to merge the both the Bank together. Accordingly both the Banks were merged and named as Angul United Central Cooperative Bank Ltd, came into existence with its Head Office at Angul. The founder had decided to establish the Bank with a sole motto of serving the community at large. With this end view they introduced attractive deposit and lending scheme relevant to that times. The Bank started its operation under the then visionary founder chairman Late Sj. Tripurendra Deo and late Chief executive Sri Sarbeswar Rath who had made a mark for its self with high quality of service and introducing several customers to the Bank. The Bank has achieved distinguished success in cooperative Banking sector particularly during the few years because of its distinct objectives, strategies plan of action its continuous monitoring and sharing of success with the concerned personnel, Good Corporate Governance and Committed Management with keen interest in the well being of the Bank has been instrumental in the Bank reaching greater heights. Further the Bank has obtained the Reserve Bank license vide License No. RPCD Bhubaneswar /14/2011-12 Dated 02.05.2012 in lieu of the license issued earlier vide this office letter RPCD No-1332/04.02.2013 -2009-10 Dated 16.03.2010 with a certificate in the year 2009-10. The Bank has expanded its network in 16 Blocks through 17 Branches as well as urban areas in the district of Angul and Dhenkanal. By this time the Bank has now 17 Branches of its own with 2 extension counters, Banarpal & Gondia.
